Gabriel Klein has spent his whole life in Seattle and most of his life doing theater. He's been working with Shana Bestock for about six years now, and is absolutely thrilled to be curating Penguin's Reading Series. By day, Gabriel works as an educator at an alternative school centering self-directed learning, and in his spare time, he works in various theater roles, mostly behind the scenes. Some of his favorite plays are Metamorphoses, Arcadia, and Brooklyn Bridge. He likes plays that are optimistic or heartwarming, plays about language or communication, about myths or folklore, and about choices. He thinks we need more plays written by people who understand children.
Gabriel also enjoys taking very, very long walks, consuming soy-based meal replacements, and challenging gender roles. He owes a great deal to Shana Bestock and Kyna Shilling, and his family, whether they be by blood or by choice. He thinks the world needs more hope.
